THE STORY
Learning…
That is quite likely the one thing in the world I enjoy the most. Years ago I stumbled across YouTube videos showing how to create wooden furniture using mainly hand tools. Having spent time in a school wood shop, I was amazed to see how accurate and efficient you could be with hand planes, saws, and chisels.
Mesmerised, I set off on a journey of discovery — consuming as much information as possible and spending a lot of time on YouTube. Eventually, I left the corporate world to pursue furniture design and making, learning how to make my own tools and sharpening my skills with every project.
Along the way I’ve learned some hard lessons: turning is fun but the market for turned pens is small; wooden spoons are trickier than they look; and making beautiful work takes time, patience, and practice.
But the most important lesson? I can teach others how to do this — and I love doing it.
My Approach to Woodworking
Learning and teaching go hand in hand here at PlyCreations. I aim to keep things practical, honest, and sometimes light-hearted — because woodworking should be enjoyable, not intimidating.
Respect for others is key — every woodworker, at any level, deserves it.
Fun matters — I try not to take myself too seriously, especially when things go wrong.
I believe in sharing the whole process — successes, mistakes, and all.
And yes, I love cats, dogs, and all animals. They remind me that the workshop should feel welcoming.
