• Spoon carving is a safe and natural way to get into traditional hand tool woodworking.
• The knife grips and controlled cuts you’ll practice here build confidence with sharp tools.
• These skills carry over directly into carving utensils, figurines, and other hand-carved projects.
• A perfect entry before moving on to larger carving projects.

Class size: Max 3 students for individual attention
Cost: R1000 per person (payable on invoice after booking)

Jelutong spoon blanks (pre-shaped for easy carving)
Training set of carving tools (Sloyd, hook knife, gouge)
Personal guidance on safe knife grips and carving techniques
Workbench space, muffins & coffee

Optional (if you own them):

Your own carving knives or sharpening tools

Note: If you’ll be using the workshop tools, please let us know whether you’re left- or right-handed so we can prepare the correct hook knife for you. We focus on safe grips and controlled cuts so you won’t need protective gloves — the goal is confidence and skill, not heavy PPE
