Configure Your Bins

Complete the form below with your preferred bin size, colour and features. Detailed guidance on Gridfinity dimensions and the available options appears below the form.

I’ll review your requirements and contact you with any questions before preparing a custom quote.

Choosing Your Custom Bin

Gridfinity bins are sized using standard grid units for width and depth, with separate height units. Use the guidance below when completing the form. If you are unsure about any option, provide as much information as possible and I’ll confirm the most suitable configuration before quoting.

Bin Width and Depth

Each Gridfinity grid unit measures 42 × 42 mm. A bin’s stated size describes how many grid spaces it occupies.

1 unit = 42 mm
2 units = 84 mm
3 units = 126 mm
4 units = 168 mm
5 units = 210 mm
6 units = 252 mm

For example, a 2 × 3 bin occupies approximately 84 × 126 mm of grid space. The actual outside dimensions are slightly smaller to provide the clearance needed between neighbouring bins.

Bin Height

Bin heights are measured in standard Gridfinity height units. Each height unit (1U) equals 7 mm, measured from the bottom of the base to the top edge of the bin body.

3U = 21 mm body height
4U = 28 mm body height
5U = 35 mm body height
6U = 42 mm body height
7U = 49 mm body height
8U = 56 mm body height

The stacking lip adds approximately 4 mm to the overall height. For example, a 5U bin has a nominal body height of 35 mm and an overall height of approximately 39 mm. Finished dimensions may vary slightly depending on the material and printing process.

The usable internal depth will be less than the stated body height because space is required for the Gridfinity base and bin floor.

Choosing Bin Features

Standard Bin
An open bin suitable for tools, components and general workshop storage.

Label Tab
Adds an angled area near the top of the bin for identifying its contents.

Finger Scoop
Adds a curved internal wall to make small parts easier to retrieve. This works particularly well with labelled bins used for screws, nuts and other small components.

The scoop is placed along the “long” edge of a bin.

Internal Compartments
Divides the bin into separate storage areas. Select the required number of compartments and describe any preferred arrangement in the additional information field.

You may combine compatible features, such as compartments with individual scoops and label tabs. I’ll confirm whether the requested combination is practical before preparing the quote.

Choosing a Colour

Bins are normally printed in black with a coloured rim. Select your preferred rim colour in the form.

If you would prefer the entire bin printed in another available colour, select that colour and note “solid colour” in the Additional Information field.

Colours shown on screen may differ slightly from the finished print. Availability will be confirmed before work begins.

What Will the Bin Hold?

Briefly describe the tools, components or materials you intend to store. This helps determine whether the selected size, height and features will work effectively.

If the fit is important, include the item’s maximum length, width and height in millimetres. You can also upload a photograph, sketch or dimensioned drawing with the form.

About Gridfinity

Gridfinity is an open-source modular storage system created by maker and YouTuber Zack Freedman. Its standard 42 mm grid and 7 mm height increments allow compatible bins to be rearranged across Gridfinity baseplates as your storage needs change.

PlyCreations designs and 3D prints components compatible with this open system and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Zack Freedman or Voidstar Lab.
